NAME: Brian Gomes
OCCUPATION:President – Canadian Operations for a Lloyds of London Brokerage (Business Executive)
WHERE YOU HEADING:I was riding to a clients board meeting (happening on a weekend) and then for a loop in Gatineau Park (after changing into more appropriate cycling attire & shoes at the office). I also had a helmet with me!
WHAT ARE YOU RIDING: Cervelo R3 Team Edition (Sram Red components with American Classic wheels)
WHY DO YOU RIDE:Cycling is the perfect outlet to clear my head and think. It’s great for work life balance and maintaining fitness. I’m looking forward to the day a few years from now when I can going cycling with my son as he gets older. Cycling provides such great opportunities for a young family to get outside and do something active together.
IF YOU COULD CHANGE ONE THING ABOUT BIKING IN OTTAWA WHAT WOULD IT BE:Each and every time a new road or road work is being completed a proper bike lane should be included in the project (legislated).
WHAT ARE YOU WEARING:Pretty much all Paul Smith. I’ve spend lots of time working in London, England and often stop in to his shops. He has lots of cool cycling inspired items (like the little bikes on my tie)
- Shoes:Camper
- Scarf: Bought in a local market in Kathmandu, Nepal
- Bag: bought at a small shop in La Paz, Bolivia (South American authentic leather is on an entirely different level)
FAVOURITE SPOTS TO BIKE: Heading West of the city into Carp is always a great loop and really feels like “getting out of the city”. I also enjoy the ride down the river and onto the Canal after a loop in Gatineau Park.
FAVOURITE PLACE TO STOP AFTER A RIDE:Tennessy Willems in Hintonburg. Delicious pizza and beer. I know what I’m having for dinner now.
